Jacare hoping Bisping-GSP ends in double KO: 'Screw those guys'
Ronaldo Souza's scorn knows no bounds.
"Jacare" has seen his campaign for a middleweight title shot and repeated condemnation of divisional champ Michael Bisping fall on deaf ears, but that didn't stop him from issuing some choice words to both "The Count" and Georges St-Pierre, who's been tapped for a shot at Bisping's crown over Yoel Romero in a return from a three-year layoff at a still-to-be-determined date.
"I want them (St-Pierre and Bisping) to suffer a double KO. Screw those guys. I couldn't care less about that fight. That's the same thing I said when Bisping fought Dan Henderson," Jacare told Combate, according to Bloody Elbow's Lucas Rezende. "I don't care, I won't even watch that crap. I'm a champion, I wasn't born to fill in for anybody. If they call me, they'll be left hanging, because I sure as shit won't go."
The longtime contender expressed little surprise at the blockbuster booking, however, taking aim at GSP - a career welterweight he accused of leapfrogging both him and Romero.
"I knew it. I thought this might happen. In fact, anything can happen in the UFC, huh?" Jacare told Combate, according to Bloody Elbow's Lucas Rezende. "What bothers me is not that GSP is fighting Bisping, that's normal, he can fight him. But he never fought at 185, he always said he was too small. He chickened out of that Anderson Silva fight, everyone knows that. Now he's back and he wants to fight at 185? OK, cool. Wanna fight? Fight me. I'm here, come get me if you want to earn that. I'm sure you can't pass that test. Face Yoel Romero. Beat that guy and you can face Bisping. No, he went straight for the belt. That's weird. It's bad for (the) division, because nobody likes all this clowning around."
Jacare has accepted his unenviable fate, however, and agreed to face surging contender Robert Whittaker at UFC on FOX 24 on April 15 - but the superfight remains a far tougher pill to swallow.
