Jimi Manuwa goes by the name "Poster Boy" and he created an unforgettable image on Saturday, leaving Corey Anderson face down on the canvas with one titanic punch.
The London-based fighter thrilled his fans at The O2 Arena with a first-round TKO win over his fellow light heavyweight contender in the main event of UFC Fight Night 107.
It is the second-straight knockout win for Manuwa, who improved to 6-2 in the UFC. Post-fight, "Poster Boy" called for the winner of the April 8 championship match between Daniel Cormier and Anthony "Rumble" Johnson.
From the start, the strategy of the two fighters was clear: Anderson looked to get Manuwa off-balance with constant movement, while Manuwa stood in the center of the cage and stalked his American opponent. A takedown attempt was blocked by Manuwa, forcing Anderson into a striking duel.
That was a game he couldn't win and Manuwa emphatically drove that point home with a thudding left hand that caused Anderson to crumble instantly. Manuwa didn't even wait for the referee to officially call the match before walking away to celebrate his victory.
Anderson suffers just the second knockout loss of his career and his first since April 2015. He has now lost two of his past three bouts to fall to 6-3 in the UFC.
