Former UFC owners Fertitta bros. make investment firm their next venture
The Fertitta brothers aren't resting on their laurels.
Not nine months after selling the UFC to WME-IMG for over $4 billion, Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta are launching a Fertitta capital, a private equity firm that will invest in technology, media, and entertainment companies, according to MMA Fighting.
The longtime casino moguls have reportedly put $500 million towards their new venture, with $20 million-to-$75 million to be invested in private companies.
Former UFC CFO Nakisa Bidarian has been appointed CEO of the Los Angeles-based company.
The Fertittas purchased the UFC with current president Dana White in 2001 for just $2 million and built it into the world's top fight factory over 15 years at the helm before selling to WME-IMG last summer in one of the priciest transactions in professional sports history.
