Report: UFC expected to announce re-signing of Mousasi next week
Gegard Mousasi should be coming back to the Octagon.
The UFC will soon announce the re-signing of the No. 4-ranked middleweight contender, according to a report from Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting. Mousasi became a free agent after defeating Chris Weidman at UFC 210 in April.
During his brief free agency period, Mousasi continued to make appearances for the UFC and take part in promotional material, which made it seem like negotiations between the two parties were going smoothly.
It's worth noting that Mousasi himself issued a tweet Friday directly refuting Helwani's report:
Mousasi holds a 9-3 record in the UFC with wins in his past five contests. He has won seven of his last eight, and that lone loss to Urijah Hall was avenged at UFC Fight Night 99 last November.
"The Dreamcatcher" owns a 42-6-2 record overall.
