Mayweather: I think fight with McGregor will happen
As the parties involved continue to negotiate the parameters for a superfight between retired boxing legend Floyd Mayweather and UFC lightweight champ Conor McGregor, Mayweather provided some optimism that a deal could be reached.
Mayweather was on hand for an IBF super featherweight fight Saturday in London between Gervonta Davis and Liam Walsh and he was asked to comment on the possibility of a bout with McGregor.
"If me and Conor McGregor do happen to make the fight happen, which I think the fight will happen, I would love for (Davis) to be on the undercard," Mayweather said.
" ... I had a great career, and my career may not be over. Number 50 may be against Conor McGregor, we'll just wait and see."
Mayweather retired from boxing in 2015 with a spotless 49-0 record.
McGregor recently agreed to terms with the UFC on the proposed bout and reports have surfaced that UFC president Dana White will speak with Mayweather's team in the coming days.
