One little punch was all it took.
Volkan Oezdemir silenced any doubts that he was worthy of his top-5 ranking with a shocking 28-second knockout win over Misha Cirkunov in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 109 in Stockholm, Sweden, on Sunday.
Cirkunov charged in to start the fight, only to be caught behind the ear with a short punch that caused him to immediately go limp. It was the first knockout loss of Cirkunov's career, and his first loss in his past nine fights.
Now 2-0 in the UFC, Oezdemir holds wins over top-10 contenders Cirkunov and Ovince Saint Preux. He is 14-1 overall with victories in his past four fights.
