Title bouts official as all fighters make weight for UFC 213
Robert Whittaker and Yoel Romero weighed in over 90 minutes apart, but their interim middleweight title bout is officially set for the co-main event of Saturday's UFC 213, as both fighters made weight Friday afternoon.
It briefly looked as though the matchup might be in jeopardy, as a noticeably haggard Romero had to strip down to make 185 pounds on the dot with 20 minutes remaining in the two-hour ritual. Whittaker, on the other hand, was among the first to weigh in and held up his end by coming in at 184.5 pounds.
The card's main event is also officially a go, with women's bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes and challenger Valentina Shevchenko weighing in at 135 and 134.5 pounds, respectively, for their highly anticipated rematch.
The bill's remaining 20 fighters all made weight without incident. They'll compete at Las Vegas' T-Mobile Arena in the second and final card of International Fight Week.
