Report: Holloway injured, unlikely to defend title at UFC 222
An injury to Max Holloway will prevent the featherweight champion from taking on Frankie Edgar for the belt on March 3 at UFC 222, sources told Brett Okamoto of ESPN.
The UFC is reportedly expected to announce Holloway's removal from the card shortly.
It'll mark the second time the highly anticipated bout between Holloway and Edgar will be postponed. They were supposed to collide Dec. 2 at UFC 218, but Edgar had to withdraw because of injury.
Not finalized, but the current plan is Edgar vs. Ortega in a non-title fight on March 3. And if that gets done, then they’d hope to have a new title fight (TJ vs. Cody 2 has been discussed) as the headliner. Still fluid at the moment. Developing.
