5 unforgettable moments from Jon Jones' bizarre CSAC hearing

Jon Jones has given the MMA world as many memorable moments outside the Octagon as he has inside of it, a notion evidently true with his hearing in front of the California State Athletic Commission in the books.

The former UFC light heavyweight champion stood in front of the commission Tuesday to contest a failed steroid test from July 2017, and what happened in Anaheim, Calif., was nothing short of bizarre. It was a wacky day, and five moments from the hearing are guaranteed to live on in infamy:

1. Jones reveals he scammed his way through USADA tutorials

After becoming the official anti-doping program of the UFC in June 2015, the United States Anti-Doping Agency mandated each fighter complete a series of online tutorials designed to help them avoid banned substances. Shockingly, Jones admitted he never actually completed the tutorials - instead, his management team did them and forged his signature at the end.

2. 'I've had quite a bit of experience with Viagra and Cialis'

Jones was flagged for doping in July 2016, and later claimed he had ingested a tainted sexual enhancement pill. When brought up during the hearing, Jones made it known he wasn't a one-time user of the product intended for those with erectile dysfunction. "I've had quite a bit of experience with Viagra and Cialis" was the exact line he gave the panel, according to Stephie Haynes of SB Nation.

3. Stephen A. Smith

If you watched the hearing live, you're probably still trying to figure out what Stephen A. Smith had to do with the proceedings. The eccentric ESPN personality had his name thrown into the hearing when one of the panel's commissioners told Jones to look up Stephen A. Smith, with no explanation as to why. The panelist brought up Stephen A. Smith's name several times.

4. Jones says he's too smart to take steroids week before fight

It would've been a logical defense if the 30-year-old didn't have a DUI, hit-and run, and cocaine bust all on his record, in addition to the failed doping test from 2016. "Any person with common sense would know not to do steroids one week before their fight," Jones told the panel at one point, via ESPN's Brett Okamoto. "All you guys in this room are really smart. You guys know this makes no sense." Despite failing two doping tests in two years, Jones exclaimed he's been one of the most vocal UFC fighters against performance-enhancing drugs.

5. Bah Gawd, that's Giovanni's music!

A public hearing meant anyone could attend and have an opportunity to speak at some point. After two-and-a-half hours, a fan named Giovanni entered the action. Well spoken, he encouraged the panel to punish Jones - and any other fighter found guilty of doping - monetarily instead of through the revocation of a license to practice mixed martial arts. The panel didn't seem to weigh his opinion heavily - or at all - as the commission both fined Jones $205,000 and took away his license.
