Junior dos Santos vs. Blagoy Ivanov confirmed for UFC Boise
Former heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos will return from his shortened USADA-imposed suspension to fight ex-World Series of Fighting champion Blagoy Ivanov in the main event of UFC Boise on July 14, the promotion confirmed Monday.
The fight was first reported by ESPN in late April.
Dos Santos (18-5) was flagged by the USADA last August and was kept out of competition while under investigation, but was cleared in April and given a reduced six-month suspension, which he had already served.
The 34-year-old Brazilian last fought in May 2017, losing to heavyweight champ Stipe Miocic via first-round knockout. Dos Santos has alternated between wins and losses over his last seven fights after losing the heavyweight strap in December 2012.
Ivanov (16-1) won the WSOF heavyweight title in June 2015 and successfully defended the belt four times before coming over to the UFC. The 31-year-old Bulgarian is on a five-fight win streak.
The card will also feature the return of another formerly USADA-suspended fighter, Chad Mendes, who will face Myles Jury after two years out of the Octagon.
