Bisping says Andrade's UFC 237 title win was 'kind of a fluke'

Michael Bisping didn't hold back on his assessment of Jessica Andrade's stunning knockout victory over Rose Namajunas at UFC 237.

The former UFC middleweight champion said on his "Believe You Me" podcast that he believes Andrade's strawweight title victory was a bit lucky.

"I shouldn’t say this cuz it's doing a disservice to Jessica Andrade and maybe even being disrespectful, which I'm not trying to do. It was kind of a fluke," Bisping said of the knockout.

Namajunas appeared to be in control of the fight at the end of the first round after putting on one of her most polished performances in the Octagon. However, Andrade got a hold of the former strawweight queen in the second round and slammed her to the mat. Namajunas' head hit the canvas and she was knocked out cold.

"That doesn't happen," Bisping added. "(Andrade has) done that move a lot. Generally, people don’t land on the head and get knocked out. That's not to say in a rematch she couldn't win, but I'd definitely favor Rose in the rematch after what I saw in that first round and a half. That said, as I said that does come off a little bit disrespectful. That's not my intention."

Interestingly enough, Bisping has heard the talk of lucky wins himself. His first-round knockout over Luke Rockhold at UFC 199, where he captured the middleweight title, was called a fluke by former middleweight contender Gegard Mousasi back in 2017.

With the UFC 237 victory, Andrade pushed her winning streak to four straight, while Namajunas had her three-fight win streak snapped.
