White slams Cyborg again: 'Dealing with her has been a nightmare'

The UFC might be done with Cris Cyborg, but the promotion's president, Dana White, continues to take shots at the former women's featherweight champion.

White waived the UFC's exclusive negotiation rights with Cyborg last week and said he won't match any offers from other MMA promotions following a public feud between the two.

And when asked about Cyborg following Tuesday's edition of his contender series, White went off on the Brazilian, saying her five-year stint with the UFC had "been a nightmare the entire time" while again accusing her of ducking fights with Amada Nunes.

"No, I wouldn't do anything different," White said, according to Mike Bohn and John Morgan of MMA Junkie. "The one thing I'm glad I did was I pushed her to make sure she fought Amanda Nunes, because she didn't want that fight the first time, let alone the second time. She wanted Cindy Dandois or Pam Sorensen. Those are the fights she wanted, and she was turning down Amanda Nunes. I said, 'That's not going to happen.' So we kept pushing and pushing and pushing and finally we got her to take the Amanda Nunes fight. I'm happy I did that. Other than that I wouldn't change one thing in the last five years on Cyborg."

For her part, Cyborg has hit back at suggestions that she doesn't want to step back inside the Octagon with Nunes, who knocked out the former Invicta and Strikeforce champion last December for the first time in Cyborg's storied career, ending a 13-year unbeaten streak.

It initially appeared Cyborg would return to the UFC at the end of her contract due to the intrigue surrounding the rematch.

However, the relationship between the veteran fighter and White quickly deteriorated after Cyborg said she wouldn't return unless the UFC president apologized for past comments about her, which include referring to her as "Wanderlei Silva in a dress" in 2014.

The final straw for White appeared to be when Cyborg admitted she misrepresented a video of their interaction backstage at UFC 240, which was posted on her official social media pages.

She later apologized, which White initially accepted. But he apparently isn't ready to forgive the 34-year-old.

"I don't think there's any peace between me and Cyborg," White said. "Whether you like me or you don't like me, whatever your opinion is it doesn't matter. What she did was dirty. It was dirty what she did with the video and all this other stuff in it. Meanwhile, she's out here saying she better get an apology from me?

"Yeah. I got an apology from her. Because what she did was one of the dirtiest things. It had to kill her to apologize to me. Kill her to do it. But what she did is one of the dirtiest things you can do to somebody. That's why she apologized."

Despite taking issue with Cyborg's recent actions, White said he'd book a rematch between her and Nunes immediately if everyone was on board.

Cyborg appeared to respond to that offer on social media Tuesday, tweeting that White would be talking to her management team on Wednesday.

The tweet has since been deleted.
