'Korean Zombie' TKOs Edgar in UFC Busan main event

Chan Sung Jung defeated Frankie Edgar by first-round TKO in the UFC Busan main event Saturday at Sajik Arena in South Korea. The stoppage came at 3:18 of the frame.

The "Korean Zombie" hurt Edgar with a combination in the opening moments of the round and spent most of it on top of his opponent, hunting for a ground-and-pound finish.

Edgar managed to get back to his feet, but Jung knocked him down again - and this time, referee Marc Goddard was quicker to intervene.

Jung called out newly crowned featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski after the win.

The South Korea native has now won two straight fights. He also defeated Renato Moicano by knockout in June.

This was the first time that Jung has fought twice in one year since 2011. Injuries and mandatory military service kept the featherweight contender out of action between August 2013 and February 2017.

Edgar, a former UFC lightweight champ, stepped up on short notice for this fight. He was preparing to make his bantamweight debut on Jan. 25 when Brian Ortega fell out of the UFC Busan main event due to an injury.

The "Answer" has now lost two straight. He fought Max Holloway for the 145-pound title in July, losing a lopsided decision.

This was only the second time that Edgar had been stopped in his veteran career, but this was the quickest stoppage. He also lost to Ortega by TKO in early 2018.
