'Korean Zombie' reveals eye condition, sees 'doubles of everything'
The "Korean Zombie" was not 100% heading into UFC Busan.
Chan Sung Jung revealed after his first-round TKO win over Frankie Edgar in Saturday's main event that he is suffering from an eye condition that makes him see double.
"This is my first time actually announcing this, but right now, my eyes are not that good. ... Even right now, everyone in this room, I'm seeing doubles of everything," Jung said through an interpreter at the postfight press conference in Busan, South Korea.
The 32-year-old said he'll undergo surgery and is targeting a return in the second quarter of 2020. Jung admitted he has to "slant" his body to see clearly, and that makes fixing this problem a priority for him.
"It's not a huge, major surgery, but still, it's still gonna take about a couple months, three months to recover," Jung said. "I think I'll be good starting from May or June."
The South Korea native has now won two straight after beating Edgar, a former UFC lightweight champion. Jung also defeated Renato Moicano by knockout earlier this year.
