UFC light heavyweight Patrick Cummins announced his retirement Tuesday, citing a decline in motivation.
"I won't spend any more time involved in something that my heart isn't 100% into," he wrote on Instagram. "I spent over (a) year in the UFC where that was the case, but I wasn't completely aware of it. Turns out, that's probably one of the hardest places to go through the motions."
Cummins lost his last three fights in the Octagon dating back to 2018. He made his promotional debut against Daniel Cormier in 2014, losing to the future division champion via TKO in the opening round.
The 39-year-old Cummins walks away from mixed martial arts with a professional record of 10-7. He went 6-7 in UFC competition.
