Chan Sung Jung is confident he'd be able to dethrone new UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski if they cross paths.
In fact, "The Korean Zombie" thinks he has a better shot to beat Volkanovski than former titleholder Max Holloway, whom the Australian defeated for the belt at UFC 245 on Dec. 14.
"I'm eager to know when (Volkanovski) will be back," Jung told MMA Fighting's Alexander K. Lee. "I think I'd be able to beat Volkanovski easier than Holloway could."
Jung called out the champ after his first-round TKO win over Frankie Edgar in the UFC Busan main event Dec. 21. But the 32-year-old admits he may have to win one more fight to move past the likes of Zabit Magomedsharipov and Yair Rodriguez as the clear-cut No. 1 contender.
"If I have to face another opponent, I'll go for it," Jung said.
Jung named Holloway, Brian Ortega, and Magomedsharipov as potential opponents. He was scheduled to face Ortega at UFC Busan before "T-City" pulled out of the bout due to an injury.
"The Korean Zombie," who's riding a two-fight winning streak, is currently battling an eye condition. He said he expects to undergo surgery in early January to correct it.
