Masvidal doubts McGregor will fight him after UFC 246
Jorge Masvidal has doubts that a fight with Conor McGregor will come to fruition.
"Gamebred" will have his eyes on McGregor if the Irishman gets past Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 on Jan. 18, but he's not expecting anything to come out of it.
"I don’t know if Conor wins it means that he fights me. ... From watching interviews and hearing things, I don't think so, man. I think buddy goes a different path," Masvidal said recently on "Submission Radio."
Masvidal added, "A part of me feels like, man, buddy doesn’t want to scrap."
McGregor has expressed some interest in fighting Masvidal but said he'd rather take on Kamaru Usman for the UFC welterweight title. "The Notorious" is also targeting a bout against the winner of the Khabib Nurmagomedov-Tony Ferguson lightweight title bout.
If Masvidal's first choice of a "big-money fight" against McGregor doesn't happen, the American Top Team product has made it clear that he'd be more than willing to fight Usman.
Masvidal is one of the UFC's biggest stars after a breakout 2019, which included finishes of Nate Diaz, Ben Askren, and Darren Till.
