Woodley-Edwards set for main event at UFC London on March 21
UFC Fight Night London officially has its main event, as welterweights Tyron Woodley and Leon Edwards will face off on March 21, Dana White told ESPN's Brett Okamoto.
The announcement confirms December rumors regarding Woodley's return to the Octagon. The 37-year-old hasn't fought since March 2019, when he lost the UFC welterweight belt to Kamaru Usman.
Woodley (19-4-1) had successfully defended his title four straight times prior to his loss to Usman, his first defeat since 2014. He then pushed for a rematch against Usman or a fight with another elite-tier welterweight competitor.
Edwards (18-3), meanwhile, has been eager to fight Woodley for quite some time. His last defeat also came against Usman back in 2015, but the UFC's fourth-ranked welterweight hasn't lost since then, stringing off eight straight victories.
The winner of the March 21 bout could be next in line for a title fight in the highly competitive division if Jorge Masvidal prioritizes a clash with Conor McGregor over battling for the belt.
