Andrea Lee: Mutual friend Matt Schnell wouldn't help Lauren Murphy train

Andrea Lee doesn't have to worry about her former training partner, UFC flyweight Matt Schnell, giving UFC 247 opponent Lauren Murphy any inside information.

"One of my friends is also like an old-time training partner, used to train at my gym - 'Danger,' Matt Schnell," Lee told theScore. "He's training and he's coaching out (in Texas) when he's not getting ready for his own fights."

Lee said Murphy is training in Houston and asked Schnell for assistance preparing for their Feb. 8 bout, but he declined.

"He told her that he wouldn't help her until after her and I have already fought," Lee said. "He hasn't given me any insight on anything. ... He's just kind of, like, stepping back and doing the right thing."

Lee (11-3) looks to avoid back-to-back losses for the first time in her career when she faces Murphy. The 30-year-old isn't expecting a quick stoppage victory given the style matchup.

"She is tough to finish. I'm not expecting to go in there and get a knockout, as much as I would love for that to happen," Lee said. "I see us being in there for the long run. ... I really want to, like, attack the body as much as I can, and hopefully, that will slow her down some. Because, I mean, that's what I do with a lot of the bigger people that I fight, train, or spar with."

Light heavyweight champion Jon "Bones" Jones will defend his title against Dominick Reyes in the main event of UFC 247 at the Toyota Center in Houston. Watch the full interview with Lee below and subscribe to theScoreMMA YouTube channel here.
