Chandler-Henderson 2 to headline Bellator event in June
A lightweight rematch between Michael Chandler and Benson Henderson will headline a Bellator event on June 6 in Chicago, the promotion announced during a press conference Monday.
The fight was originally scheduled for last December but Henderson suffered an injury and dropped out. Chandler instead faced Sidney Outlaw and finished him in the first round at Bellator 237.
Chandler, a three-time lightweight champ, is 4-1 in his last five outings.
Henderson, a former UFC lightweight champion, is riding a four-fight winning streak, including decisions over fellow UFC veteran Myles Jury and Saad Awad. He signed with Bellator in 2016 after a four-year career in the Octagon and has compiled a 4-3 record with the promotion.
Bellator president Scott Coker said Monday the winner will likely fight champion Patricio Freire.
The card will also feature a Featherweight Grand Prix semifinal bout between A.J. McKee and Darrion Caldwell, the promotion announced.
