Anderson Silva vows to fight in UFC at least twice more
After undergoing knee surgery Wednesday, former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva is now plotting his return to the cage.
His manager, Jorge Guimaraes, told ESPN's Ariel Helwani that Silva had a regenerative stem cell procedure on his right knee in Los Angeles.
"I'll be 100% soon and do my two fights in the UFC," Silva said in an Instagram video translated by MMA Fighting's Guilherme Cruz. "I wanted to thank every UFC fan. I finished my surgery and everything is fine, I'm going home."
Silva has previously mentioned he has two fights left on his current UFC contract. He will assess his fighting future after the two bouts, Guimaraes said.
"The Spider" is coming off a TKO loss to Jared Cannonier at UFC 237 last May. He injured his knee in the first round of the contest.
Silva remains one of the greatest fighters of all time but is 1-5 (1 NC) since losing the 185-pound title to Chris Weidman in 2013. The Brazilian's most recent victory is a decision over Derek Brunson in 2017.
