Dillashaw: 'Awkward fighting style' will give Cruz edge vs. Cejudo
T.J. Dillashaw has locked in his prediction for the UFC 249 co-main event between bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo and Dominick Cruz.
The former bantamweight titleholder is familiar with both men, as he lost the 135-pound belt for the first time to Cruz in 2016 and was stopped by Cejudo in a flyweight title fight last year. Dillashaw sees an upset taking place Saturday night in Jacksonville.
"If I'm a betting man, I'd bet on Dominick Cruz," Dillashaw told TMZ Sports. "I think that his awkward fighting style is tough to deal with. Not like it's the super most technical, but he uses it to his advantage and he gets people to play his game. I think that he's gonna point fight Cejudo, and he's going to outpoint him, he's going to win a decision."
Dillashaw, who hasn't stepped into the cage since his first-round TKO loss to Cejudo, is currently serving a two-year USADA suspension after testing positive for EPO in 2019. The 34-year-old said he'll be keeping a close eye on Cejudo-Cruz because he'd like to rematch one of them when he's eligible to return in January 2021.
"Obviously, I got some bad blood with both these guys, so I like the fight," Dillashaw said. "Obviously, if either of them wins, I'd love to get in there and get my title back from them. I'm happy about the fight."
