Anthony Pettis defeated Donald Cerrone via unanimous decision at UFC 249 on Saturday night in Jacksonville.

All three judges scored the welterweight fight 29-28 for the former UFC lightweight champion.

Pettis and Cerrone threw down for three rounds in the featured preliminary bout, but it was "Showtime" who landed the harder shots, giving him the edge. Pettis is known for his flashy striking, and that was on display once again at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena when he connected with several head kicks and spinning kicks against "Cowboy."

However, Cerrone - one of the UFC's grittiest fighters - didn't back down. He landed several solid punches and kicks against Pettis, taking his foe to the ground multiple times to make it a razor-thin contest.

With the victory, Pettis returns to the win column for the first time since March 2019. He entered the clash on a two-fight skid.

Cerrone, meanwhile, fell short for the fourth straight time.

This was a rematch of a 2013 bout, which Pettis won by first-round TKO.
