Kattar destroys Stephens with 2nd-round KO at UFC 249
Calvin Kattar knocked out Jeremy Stephens at 2:42 in the second round of their featherweight bout at UFC 249 in Jacksonville.
A nasty right elbow from Kattar dropped Stephens before ground-and-pound sealed the deal Saturday.
The pair of contenders traded shots right from the opening bell. Kattar stunned Stephens several times with heavy punches, but Stephens absorbed the damage and kept walking forward. "Lil' Heathen" dished out a fair amount of offense himself.
But Kattar proved to be the more accurate striker, and that ultimately led to his knockout victory. The 32-year-old entered the fight coming off a loss to top contender Zabit Magomedsharipov, and he's now won three of his past four bouts.
Stephens hasn't won in the Octagon since February 2018, when he finished Josh Emmett.
