Ngannou stuns Rozenstruik with 20-second KO at UFC 249
Francis Ngannou wasted no time at UFC 249.
The UFC heavyweight contender knocked out Jairzinho Rozenstruik in 20 seconds on Saturday night in Jacksonville.
Ngannou and Rozenstruik started swinging as soon as the fight began. "The Predator" stalked Rozenstruik to his side of the cage, throwing wild punches until stunning his opponent with a left hand. Ngannou followed up with a few more shots on the ground, but it was only a matter of time before the referee stopped the fight.
The 33-year-old has now won four straight bouts, and this version of Ngannou may be one of the scariest fighters ever in the Octagon. His past four wins have lasted a total of 2:42, according to MMA Junkie's Mike Bohn. That streak includes finishes of former champions Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos.
After the fight, Ngannou expressed frustration about the heavyweight division being on hold, with Stipe Miocic expected to complete a trilogy with ex-champ Daniel Cormier, but the champion is unable to compete during the pandemic. Ngannou-Rozenstruik was considered an unofficial No. 1 contender bout.
Rozenstruik lost for the first time as a professional. He made his Octagon debut in 2019 and won four straight bouts, including a fifth-round TKO of former title challenger Alistair Overeem last December. "Bigi Boy" was easily the newcomer of the year.
