McGregor says Ferguson has always been overrated

Conor McGregor is a fan of Tony Ferguson, but the former UFC two-division champion doesn't think "El Cucuy" was ever as good as advertised.

Ferguson lost for the first time since 2012 at UFC 249 over the weekend, suffering a fifth-round TKO at the hands of Justin Gaethje in an interim lightweight title fight. On Monday, McGregor reacted to the result during a Twitter rant.

"Frame and preparation here was just embarrassing," McGregor wrote. "(Ferguson's) methods and conversation are humorous/enjoyable but he was never the level perceived. Although tough."

McGregor also suggested that Ferguson, who broke an orbital bone against Gaethje, will meet fellow ex-interim champ Dustin Poirier in his next bout - and that he'll lose for the second straight time.

"Dustin will beat (Ferguson) also if changes are not made," McGregor wrote, "which they won't."

McGregor is coming off a 40-second TKO win over Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 in January.
