UFC Fight Night: Smith vs. Teixeira best bets

UFC Fight Night takes place Wednesday night at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville. It will feature a light heavyweight bout between former title challengers Anthony Smith and Glover Teixeira.

Here are two top plays and full odds for the event.

Anthony Smith wins inside the distance (-110) vs. Glover Teixeira

I like Smith to beat Teixeira in this spot, but instead of taking him straight at -175, I'd rather get more value and bet on "Lionheart" picking up a finish. Smith's last seven wins all came inside the distance.

Though the two contenders have the same reach, Smith is taller and generally fights longer. As long as he maintains distance and takes control of the exchanges early in the fight, he'll be able to pick Teixeira apart in the striking department.

I'm intrigued to see what the fight looks like if it hits the ground. Teixeira is the more accomplished submission specialist, but Smith is sneaky good on the mat himself and could catch Teixeira off guard.

While Teixeira has solid knockout power and could land a big bomb, Smith is resilient. It will take the perfect shot to put him away. This fight will ultimately come down to Smith's youth advantage - he's only 31, while the Brazilian is 40 and undeniably past his prime. Additionally, two of Teixeira's past three losses have come via TKO. I like Smith to take the veteran into deep waters and finish him with strikes in the fourth round.

Drew Dober wins via decision (+250) vs. Alexander Hernandez

This will be a gritty battle between two hard hitters in the lightweight division.

Dober has the momentum on his side, as he's coming off a pair of first-round knockout wins over Nasrat Haqparast - who was a big favorite - and Polo Reyes. He's won five of his past six bouts and appears to have turned things around in recent years. Before that streak, the 31-year-old was 3-4 (1 NC) in the UFC.

Hernandez, meanwhile, raised eyebrows in his Octagon debut in 2018, stunning top contender Beneil Dariush with a thunderous first-round knockout. However, he's underwhelmed since then. He beat Olivier Aubin-Mercier by decision, lost to Donald Cerrone by TKO, and edged out Francisco Trinaldo in a fight that 11 of 13 media members scored for the Brazilian on MMADecisions.com.

Though Dober has been putting away his opponents lately, he also has a fair amount of decisions on his record. Hernandez has a pretty sturdy chin, and I think he'll be competitive in the fight. So I like Dober over the course of three rounds, not inside the distance, and that gives me much better odds than Dober straight (-125).
