Jones open to Reyes rematch if UFC makes 'reward worth the risk'

UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones would be happy to proceed with a rematch against Dominick Reyes, but only if the promotion's marketing machine gets behind it.

"I'd love to fight (Reyes) again," Jones wrote Tuesday on Twitter. "I'm just waiting for the UFC to make the reward worth the risk. Unless the organization treats it like a superfight, I might as well stay on schedule fighting the next guy in line."

Jones defended his 205-pound title against the previously undefeated Reyes at UFC 247 in February, edging out a unanimous decision victory. But many people - including UFC president Dana White - thought the challenger deserved the nod from the judges. Reyes said after the fight he wanted an immediate rematch.

If a Reyes rematch doesn't come to fruition, it appears likely "Bones" will face No. 3-ranked Jan Blachowicz next. The Polish fighter called out the longtime champion after knocking out Corey Anderson in what was widely considered a No. 1 contender fight one week after Jones defeated Reyes.

Jones said in December there was a good chance he'd move up to the heavyweight division in 2020. While those talks have died down after he was less than dominant in his last fight, the Jackson-Wink MMA product said Tuesday he'd be interested in taking an exhibition match at a catchweight of 220 pounds before finally moving up.
