Ex-champ Randleman to be inducted into UFC Hall of Fame
The late Kevin Randleman will be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame, the promotion announced Saturday night.
Randleman is a former UFC heavyweight champion. He won the belt against Pete Williams at UFC 23 in November 1999 and successfully defended it the following year. Randleman dropped the title to Randy Couture at UFC 28 in November 2000.
"The Monster" died in 2016 from heart failure caused by complications from pneumonia at the age of 44.
While Randleman competed in the Octagon from 1999 to 2002, the second half of his career included a four-year tenure in Pride FC and two fights in Strikeforce. The San Diego native holds notable wins over Mirko Cro Cop, Maurice Smith, and Pedro Rizzo.
Randleman's last professional bout came in 2011. He last won in 2008.
