UFC heavyweight contender Alistair Overeem defeated Walt Harris via TKO at 3:00 of the second round in the UFC Fight Night main event Saturday in Jacksonville.

"The Demolition Man" had to get through adversity to earn the victory. Harris nearly finished him early in the first round, dropping Overeem with huge bombs. However, the former UFC title challenger turned things around in the second half of the frame, getting on top of Harris and scoring ground-and-pound of his own.

In the second round, Overeem landed a solid head kick and a brutal left hand that stunned Harris. The 40-year-old got on top of "The Big Ticket" and brutalized him with ground-and-pound. Referee Dan Miragliotta let the contest go on for a while, giving Harris every chance he could, but Overeem eventually flattened his opponent out and Miragliotta had no choice but to call it off.

This was a rebound win for Overeem, one of the most accomplished heavyweights in MMA history. He entered the fight coming off of a devastating loss to Jairzinho Rozenstruik, who finished Overeem with four seconds left in their December bout. Overeem is now 3-1 in his past four outings.

Harris stepped into the Octagon for the first time since his 19-year-old stepdaughter, Aniah Blanchard, went missing in late October. Blanchard was allegedly murdered and was found dead a month later.

Harris saw his four-fight unbeaten streak snapped Saturday. This was the 36-year-old's first loss since 2017 and his first TKO defeat since 2014.
