White: 'We are a go' for May 30 card in Las Vegas
The UFC Fight Night event on May 30 will take place at the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas, company president Dana White told Adam Hill of Las Vegas Review-Journal on Wednesday.
"We are a go on the 30th," White said via text message.
White said earlier in May that he hoped to hold events in the UFC's hometown by the end of the month, but that was pending approval from the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC). White indicated last week that Arizona would be a backup plan.
The NAC suspended all combat sports events on March 14 due to the coronavirus pandemic and has yet to lift that order. As of early Tuesday evening, the NAC had not made a decision regarding the UFC's aim to hold an event on May 30 in Las Vegas, according to Hill.
A welterweight bout between former champion Tyron Woodley and Gilbert Burns will reportedly headline the May 30 event. Fans will not be allowed to attend.
The UFC resumed operations with three shows in Jacksonville from May 9 to May 16. The promotion appears to be planning a full slate in June, though the only event currently listed on its website is UFC 250 on June 6.
