The health of Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, father of UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, is improving.
Khabib's manager, Ali Abdelaziz, said Abdulmanap has opened his eyes and is responsive, according to ESPN's Brett Okamoto.
"Khabib is very strong, his family is very strong and his father is very strong," Abdelaziz said. "He's improving. He opened his eyes, responding a little bit - good sign. ... He's progressing, and we're very happy about this."
Abdelaziz said in mid-May that Abdulmanap was placed in a medically induced coma in a Moscow hospital for heart complications brought on by the coronavirus.
Abdulmanap was initially hospitalized in late April for what was suspected to be pneumonia.
