Whittaker-Till to headline UFC's July 25 event
A middleweight bout between former champion Robert Whittaker and Darren Till will headline UFC Fight Night on July 25 on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, Dana White announced Thursday.
Whittaker hasn't stepped into the Octagon since his title loss against Israel Adesanya at UFC 243 in October. The 29-year-old entered that bout riding a nine-fight winning streak. He was scheduled to take on Jared Cannonier in March, but he withdrew from the contest due to personal issues.
Till is coming off a win over Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 244 in November. That was his first bout as a middleweight after eight fights in the promotion at welterweight. The Liverpool native challenged Tyron Woodley for the 170-pound belt in 2018, but he lost via submission.
