UFC women's bantamweight challenger Aspen Ladd suffered a torn ACL and MCL and could miss nine months if she requires surgery, ESPN's Ariel Helwani reports.
Ladd will not compete in next weekend's Fight Night card. She was scheduled to face Sara McMann on the main card of the June 27 event.
The 25-year-old owns a 9-1 record and is ranked third in the women's bantamweight division. She rebounded from her first professional defeat - a first-round loss to Germaine de Randamie last July - by defeating Yana Kunitskaya in December. A victory over a veteran like McMann would've put Ladd on the short list for a title shot against dominant champion Amanda Nunes.
The UFC is seeking a replacement opponent for McMann, Helwani adds.
