UFC featherweight contender Josh Emmett suffered a complete ACL tear during his hard-fought win over Shane Burgos this past weekend in Las Vegas, he told ESPN's Brett Okamoto.

Emmett also sustained a partial MCL tear, a focal impact fracture of his femur, and damaged cartilage during the co-headliner at UFC Fight Night: Blaydes vs. Volkov.

Emmett's knee appeared to buckle in the opening seconds of the bout, and the 35-year-old periodically struggled to stay upright during the three-round contest. He said in his postfight interview he thought he tore his ACL in the fight.

Despite the injury, the Team Alpha Male product toughed it out and made it to the end of the bout, picking up a unanimous decision win in a "Fight of the Year" candidate. Emmett dropped Burgos twice in the third round to seal the victory.

Emmett, ranked No. 8 in the 145-pound division, has now won three straight fights.
