UFC Fight Night: Poirier vs. Hooker odds, best bet
UFC Fight Night takes place Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas and will feature a lightweight bout between Dustin Poirier and Dan Hooker.
Here's one top play, as well as full odds for the event from theScore Bet.
Poirier-Hooker over 2.5 rounds (-120)
This fight may not end in a decision, but if we do see a finish, it won't be until the later rounds.
Poirier and Hooker are two of the toughest fighters in the lightweight division. "The Diamond" has been in wars with the likes of Justin Gaethje and Max Holloway, and Hooker's last bout against Paul Felder was an early candidate for 2020's "Fight of the Year." Poirier-Hooker will predominantly be a stand-up fight, and while they both hit hard, they can both take a shot.
Poirier has only been knocked out twice in his 31-fight career, and the only time Hooker has been finished with strikes in 28 pro bouts was against Edson Barboza in 2018. And in that situation, it was body shots that finished off the New Zealander; his chin held up.
Additionally, Poirier and Hooker are evenly matched. I expect this main event will look quite similar to Hooker's headlining bout against Felder in February, which went the distance. The two contenders will batter each other in what could be one of the best fights this year.
Ultimately, over 2.5 rounds is a steal. If Poirier-Hooker ends in a stoppage, it won't be early in the fight because of the durability and stamina of both fighters. Poirier and Hooker are dangerous in the striking department, so it wouldn't be shocking if one of them gets the other out of there. But it'll take either man at least 15 minutes to do so.
