Till expects to undergo knee surgery after Fight Night injury

Middleweight contender Darren Till expects to undergo a procedure after taking a knee stomp from Robert Whittaker in their UFC Fight Night battle Saturday in Abu Dhabi.

"Probably gonna get a little bit of surgery now," he said after the bout, courtesy of MMAFighting.com. "That's nothing. I want to get back in the gym. Fix that, get back in the gym, and there's millions of fights out there for me, and I'm one of the top guys in this organization and I'm gonna continue to be."

The 27-year-old said he was injured on the second-round knee stomp, crediting his opponent for executing the move to perfection. He lost a unanimous decision to Whittaker, who was fighting for the first time since dropping the middleweight title to Israel Adesanya.

Till said the maneuver "blew my knee," and made a crashing sound to describe the impact of the move.

The Englishman was looking for his second straight win since moving to middleweight and said before the fight that a victory would put him squarely in the title picture. He entered the match as the fifth-ranked contender in the division.
