Ngannou '100% sure' he's next for Miocic
Francis Ngannou doesn't see anything getting in the way of his UFC heavyweight title shot.
The top contender said Friday he's confident he's next in line to fight champion Stipe Miocic, who retained the title at UFC 252 last weekend with a win over Daniel Cormier.
"Yes, 100% sure," Ngannou told ESPN's Ariel Helwani.
UFC president Dana White said after the pay-per-view event that Ngannou, who's riding a four-bout winning streak, would be the next heavyweight title challenger.
But after Jon Jones hinted at a move to the heavyweight division on the same night - and relinquished his light heavyweight title earlier this week - there's been speculation that "Bones" could end up getting the next heavyweight title shot.
However, Ngannou doesn't see Jones jumping the line, and "The Predator" doesn't think the longtime champion moving up in weight would be a good enough reason to pass him over for the next crack at Miocic.
Ngannou lost to Miocic at UFC 220 in January 2018 in his first UFC title fight. He's 4-1 since then, including knockouts of Curtis Blaydes, Cain Velasquez, Junior dos Santos, and Jairzinho Rozenstruik.
