A welterweight title bout between Kamaru Usman and Gilbert Burns is targeted for the main event of UFC 256 on Dec. 12, UFC president Dana White told ESPN's Brett Okamoto.
Usman was scheduled to face Burns at UFC 251 in July but Jorge Masvidal stepped in on less than a week's notice after Burns tested positive for the coronavirus. Usman retained his 170-pound belt for the second time with a unanimous decision win.
Burns is coming off a dominant victory over former champion Tyron Woodley in May. "Durinho" is 4-0 since moving up to the division last year.
UFC 256 will also feature a women's featherweight title clash between two-division champ Amanda Nunes and Megan Anderson.
