White: Woodley 'should start thinking about' retirement
UFC president Dana White believes Tyron Woodley should consider retirement following his loss to Colby Covington on Saturday.
"I think that he should start thinking about hanging it up," White said at the postfight press conference, according to MMA Fighting. "He's had a great career, he's had a great run. He's made money."
Covington dominated Woodley, a former welterweight champion, en route to a fifth-round TKO win in the UFC Fight Night main event in Las Vegas. Woodley suffered a rib injury and verbally submitted, but the 38-year-old was down four rounds to none - including a 10-8 score in the fourth frame - at that point.
Woodley has now lost three straight bouts in lopsided fashion, and many believe he isn't the same fighter who held the 170-pound belt from 2016-19.
"The thing is with Woodley is it doesn't seem like his head is in the game," White said. "He's focused on everything but (fighting)."
Woodley's most recent victory is a second-round submission of Darren Till in September 2018. That was his fourth successful title defense.
