Report: Lawler vs. Perry booked for UFC 255
A welterweight bout between Robbie Lawler and Mike Perry has been booked for UFC 255 on Nov. 21, sources told ESPN's Ariel Helwani.
The fight will be Lawler's second of the year after losing a unanimous decision to Neil Magny in August.
Perry is coming off a unanimous decision win over Mickey Gall in June, halting his two-fight losing streak.
"Ruthless" has lost four bouts in a row, but his battle with Perry is expected to be a physical one. Twenty of Lawler's 28 career MMA wins have come via knockout, while 11 of Perry's 14 victories have come in the same fashion.
"Platinum" was charged with a Class A misdemeanor assault after punching a man at a Texas restaurant in June, but he wasn't arrested. The incident led UFC president Dana White to say that Perry should seek professional help and that he wouldn't be offered another fight until he completed a treatment program.
The 29-year-old has since taken a 30-day "intensive" anger management program, sources told Helwani.
UFC 255 is slated to be headlined by a flyweight championship match between Deiveson Figueiredo and Cody Garbrandt. Valentina Shevchenko will also defend her women's flyweight belt against Jennifer Maia.
