Report: Makhachev out of UFC Fight Night main event vs. dos Anjos

Islam Makhachev is out of Saturday's UFC Fight Night main event against Rafael dos Anjos due to an undisclosed injury, sources told ESPN's Brett Okamoto.

The UFC is looking for a short-notice replacement for the lightweight bout.

Makhachev and dos Anjos were initially expected to fight at UFC 254 on Oct. 24, but the latter tested positive for COVID-19 two weeks prior.

Dos Anjos was scheduled to compete at 155 pounds for the first time since 2016. He's coming off two straight losses to Leon Edwards and Michael Chiesa at welterweight.

Makhachev is a rising lightweight contender and teammate of Khabib Nurmagomedov. He's riding a six-fight winning streak and owns a 7-1 Octagon record.
