Holloway-Kattar set for Jan. 16 main event

A featherweight bout between former champion Max Holloway and Calvin Kattar will headline UFC Fight Night on Jan. 16, the promotion announced Tuesday.

Holloway is coming off back-to-back losses to current champ Alexander Volkanovski. He dropped the belt last December, then came up short via split decision in the rematch.

Before that, "Blessed" had won 14 of his last 15 fights, including title defenses against Jose Aldo, Brian Ortega, and Frankie Edgar. Holloway briefly moved to lightweight in April 2019 for an interim title bout against Dustin Poirier but lost via decision.

Kattar, the sixth-ranked featherweight, has won two straight fights. The 32-year-old is coming off a decision victory over Dan Ige in a UFC Fight Night main event in July.
