UFC 257 generated 1.2 million pay-per-view buys in the United States and an additional 400,000 purchases internationally, sources told Sports Business Journal's John Ourand.

In the main event Saturday, Dustin Poirier upset Conor McGregor with a second-round TKO. McGregor, the biggest star in mixed martial arts, hadn't competed since January 2020.

The 1.6 million figure is tied with UFC 202 - which was headlined by McGregor's rematch with Nate Diaz in August 2016 - for the second-highest selling UFC pay-per-view ever. The No. 1 spot is held by UFC 229, which featured a grudge match between Khabib Nurmagomedov and McGregor in October 2018.

UFC 257 took place at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, capping off the promotion's third trip to Fight Island.

McGregor has reportedly headlined the six highest-selling pay-per-views in UFC history.
