Report: Paul-Askren broke over 1M PPV buys
The Jake Paul-Ben Askren boxing fight appears to have been an enormous success.
Saturday's Triller Fight Club event broke over 1 million pay-per-view buys and the figure could be as high as 1.6 million after the final numbers are calculated, sources told Damon Martin of MMAFighting.
Paul and Askren headlined the card, with the YouTube star earning a first-round TKO win over the former MMA champion to extend his professional boxing record to 3-0.
The event also featured live musical performances from the likes of Justin Bieber and The Black Keys, as well as other boxing matchups including Regis Prograis versus Ivan Redkach.
Paul said Sunday on Instagram that his fight had already hit 1.5 million in pay-per-view buys and generated $75 million.
Paul's base salary for the Triller Fight Club event was reportedly $690,000, while Askren took home $500,000. It's unclear what percentage of pay-per-view earnings the fighters will receive.
