Marshawn Lynch joins PFL as investor, brand ambassador
Former NFL running back Marshawn Lynch is joining the Professional Fighters League as an investor and brand ambassador, the promotion announced on Thursday.
"I'm really on that owner hype right now, ya feel me," Lynch said in a statement, according to ESPN's Brett Okamoto. "Pro teams, leagues, companies, and brands, I'm wit it. Ownership allows you to be closer to the action, to keep learning and making a difference. At the end of the day, the PFL opportunity is another blessing, that's all I can really say. PFL is the future of MMA and it's always a win-win when you can work with like-minded folks."
The terms of Lynch's financial investment weren't disclosed.
Lynch has been a notable fan of the sport, incorporating MMA training during his time in the NFL and serving as a live commentator for Karate Combat in 2020.
"Beast Mode" is the latest celebrity to partner with the PFL following hip-hop star Wiz Khalifa and comedian Kevin Hart.
The PFL is scheduled to hold its second event Thursday, headlined by welterweights Rory MacDonald and Curtis Millender.
