Report: Santos-Walker booked for Sept. 25 UFC main event
A light heavyweight bout between Thiago Santos and Johnny Walker will headline UFC Fight Night on Sept. 25, sources told MMA Fighting's Guilherme Cruz on Monday.
Santos will try to end a three-fight skid, which started when he lost to Jon Jones via split decision in a July 2019 title bout. Since then, "Marreta" has suffered a submission loss to Glover Teixeira and a decision defeat against Aleksandar Rakic. He was last victorious when he finished current champ Jan Blachowicz in early 2019.
Walker, known for his entertaining antics inside the Octagon, is coming off a knockout win over Ryan Spann last September. Before that, the 29-year-old suffered two straight losses. He holds a 4-2 record in the UFC.
This will be an opportunity for Walker to earn the biggest win of his career and crack into the top five at 205 pounds, as he's ranked No. 10 and Santos sits at No. 4.
The UFC hasn't yet announced a location for the Sept. 25 event.
