Holland out of Nov. 13 rematch vs. Daukaus with injury
Kevin Holland and Kyle Daukaus won't run it back next month after all.
Holland is out of his rematch scheduled for Nov. 13's UFC Fight Night card due to an injury, his manager told MMA Junkie's Nolan King.
The promotion plans to keep Daukaus on the card and is currently seeking a new opponent, according to TSN's Aaron Bronsteter.
The first fight between Holland and Daukaus on Oct. 2 ended in a no-contest. Holland tapped to a rear-naked choke after being dropped due to a clash of heads moments earlier. However, the referee seemingly ruled the fight a no-contest instead of a win for Daukaus because the head collision influenced the bout's outcome.
Holland lost his two other matches in 2021, dropping decisions against top middleweight contenders Derek Brunson and Marvin Vettori. "Trailblazer" was a breakout star in 2020 after winning five straight fights that year, including a "Knockout of the Year" candidate over Ronaldo Souza.
Daukaus, a "Dana White's Contender Series" alum, held a 1-2 UFC record before the no-contest.
