Woodley eyes 1 more boxing match, MMA return

Tyron Woodley wants to compete in multiple combat sports in the foreseeable future.

The former UFC welterweight champion, who suffered a knockout loss to YouTube star Jake Paul in December, said Wednesday he plans to compete in both boxing and mixed martial arts in 2022.

"I want to do boxing one more time before I do MMA," Woodley told Ariel Helwani on "The MMA Hour."

Woodley added he'll likely fight twice this year. He didn't say whether a matchup was in the works.

The 39-year-old suffered his second straight defeat to Paul last month in a short-notice boxing match after losing a split decision in their first meeting last August.

While Woodley cemented his status as one of the best welterweights ever by defending the UFC belt four times from 2016-18, some consider the highlight-reel loss to Paul a humiliating moment. However, Woodley's adamant it won't impact his legacy.

"It's not going to define me, and it's definitely not going to stop me," Woodley said.

He added: "I got a lot of opportunities, a lot of different organizations. And this fight really didn't stop it."
