UFC welterweight Nate Diaz has his eyes on a particular opponent before retiring from MMA.

"I would like to fight Dustin Poirier. Like now," said Diaz, according to TMZ Sports.

"I want the fight now. What's up (UFC commissioner) Dana White? Let's get this retirement fight cracking so I can get out of this fight game. I'm done with it."

Diaz (20-13) owns notable victories over Conor McGregor, Anthony Pettis, and Donald Cerrone.

The Stockton, California native has one fight remaining on his UFC contract. The 36-year-old dropped his last two bouts, most recently losing to Leon Edwards via unanimous decision at UFC 263.

Poirier is the No. 2-ranked lightweight in the promotion following a third-round submission loss to champion Charles Oliveira at UFC 269.

Since last December, Poirier and Diaz have traded jabs on Twitter about a potential bout.

The two rivals were supposed to meet at UFC 230 in 2018, but a lingering hip injury forced Poirier out of the matchup.

Diaz doesn't feel "The Diamond" will pose much of a challenge if they eventually square off in the Octagon.

"He ain't doing shit to me. I'll tell ya that much," said Diaz.
